Gov. Scott Strikes Budget Deal: Special Session To Be Held

Florida Gov. Rick Scott Holds Bill Signing In Miami Gardens

Governor Rick Scott has struck a deal on the budget with legislative leaders in Tallahassee.

The governor had been threatening to veto the $82.4 billion budget after the Legislature cut funding to his priorities, Visit Florida and Enterprise Florida.

A special session will be held June 7 to June 9, where legislators will be asked to approve adding $200 million in school funding, along with $76 million for Visit Florida and $85 million for Enterprise Florida.

The school funding will work out to an extra $100 per student.

In return, Scott will sign an education bill that includes more than 400 million dollars for teacher pay bonuses and a charter school incentive program.
