Delray Beach Tri-Rail Train Crash Was Double Suicide Attempt

Delray Beach Police say a train-pedestrian incident Wednesday was due to an apparent suicide attempt.

It happened on the Tri-Rail tracks along Northwest 17th Avenue around 8:15 a.m.  The conductor says he saw a man and woman standing on the tracks and tried to stop the train.

The southbound Tri-Rail train slammed into the pair and came to a stop just north of Lake Ida Road.

The victims were taken to a trauma center in serious condition.

There were no injuries on the train and no crossings are blocked.
