Confederate Flag Comes Down At Tequesta Shopping Center

Confederate Flag Comes Down In Tequesta

In the wake of the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, the owner of a shopping center in Tequesta has ordered that a confederate flag that was flying there be taken down.  That flag was brought down Monday night.

It was one of six flags that were flying at Gallery Square North, along Tequesta Drive.

Business owners say each one represents the governing history of the Village.  At least one business owner isn't happy the flag was brought down.  Scott Hofmeister tells our CBS 12 partners that it's an important part of Civil War history.

The Florida chapter of the NAACP has been pushing for the removal of confederate symbols.
