Woman Charged In Jupiter Road Rage Incident

JUPITER, Fla. (CBS12) — Police arrested a woman from Jupiter Wednesday in connection with a road rage incident.

Jupiter Police say 62-year-old Maureen Joan Perholtz rammed her Toyota SUV into a Hyundai carrying two passengers because it stopped at a red light. Police believe Perholtz was drunk at the time of the incident.

Officers say Perholtz grew angry when the car stopped at the red light, repeatedly waving her hands and yelling at the car in front of her. According to the police report, Perholtz appeared to strike the Hyundai in front of her.

Police say when an officer approached her car Perholtz got even more upset, began swearing and then rammed her car into the other vehicle. Police added they are unsure if she did it on purpose or if she was too drunk to understand her actions.

Police arrested and charged Perholtz with one count of driving under the influence and two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. They booked her into the Palm Beach County Jail.
