Hundreds of Dead Fish Reported Near Tampa's Bayshore

TAMPA -- People walking, biking or driving along Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa, are noticing sights and smells of a fish kill. Hundreds of dead fish have been spotted just offshore.

State fish and wildlife agents are looking into it.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says oxygen levels are low in that part of Hillsborough Bay. A water sample shows the presence of non-toxic algae, but FWC says that's likely not the only reason oxygen levels are low.

You may report fish kills to F-W-C by calling (800) 636-0811.
