FHP: 2 Pedestrians Killed On Turnpike In Crashes That Are One Hour Apart

Two pedestrians were struck and killed in separate crashes on the Turnpike, both happening a little more than an hour apart.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the first crash just after 3 a.m. Sunday morning was in the northbound lanes near Delray Beach.

A 22-year old man was standing next to his car which was sitting in the center lane of the highway with no lights on when another vehicle struck him.

The second crash happened after 4 a.m. near Palm Beach Gardens, where a 53-year old man was lying on the outside lane of the Turnpike near the exit ramp to PGA Boulevard. A vehicle ran him over and kept going.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scenes. Investigations are underway, including one to find the hit and run driver.
