The South Florida Fair officially opens on Friday, featuring a New York City theme in the Expo Center. Fair President and CEO Rick Vymlatil tells us how that came about.
"We said 'You know what? The Superbowl on the last Sunday of the Fair is coming from New York for the first time in its history.', so that's one reason why we want to focus on New York."
He tells us that you'll see the icons of NYC.
"This year's sand sculpture will feature the Statue of Liberty, as we get into the third and fourth days of the fair, the statue hopefully will be nearly 100 percent complete..."
There will also be an Empire State Building made up entirely of canned goods.
The fair runs from January 17th through February 2nd.
We'll be updating you about the different aspects of the 2014 South Florida Fair as we near opening day. In the meantime, enjoy what Rick Vymlatil has to say about the sites and sounds of the Expo Center.
Also, check out details on a special early preview of the midway, Thursday night. Click Here for that, and be sure to print out the coupon to get in extra cheap for that night. Keep in mind that the Expo Center will not be open during this special Ride-a-thon from 5pm to 10pm, which will also feature fireworks.
