Hoffman's Chocolates has been a sweet icon in Palm Beach County since 1975, so when news hit that they had been purchased by BBX Capital from Fort Lauderdale, the worst was feared.

Fred Meltzer tells us that he remains the President of Hoffman's and all will be business as usual to visitors of the four Palm Beach County stores, including the chocolate factory and gardens in Greenacres.

The sale, Meltzer says, will help Hoffman's achieve their lofty goals, which include taking some of their products national.

He also expects the sale to lead to more job opportunities in our area over the coming years.

The Holiday Wonderland also is expected to continue to be put on, lights and all, at the factory and gardens on Lake Worth Road.  This year, donations are being accepted to benefit the three daughters of school nurse Kimberly Lindsey.

Lindsey was killed by her ex-husband, who later committed suicide.  The girls, ages 16 to 20, have been left without a parent and need the public's help.
