Lobster Mini Season begins Wednesday at 12:01am. The two day season brings out hundreds who are looking to catch something for dinner...something scrumptious.
But it can also be dangerous. Officials say every year there are many who go into the water who just aren't adequately preparing for diving. Some of them are inexperienced and for those who do have experience, they haven't checked out their equipment in quite a while.
Divers lose their lives almost every year. The worst was 2006 when five divers died. Some of the advice from officials is not to go deeper than you intended and don't stay down longer than you had planned.
Another good piece of advice is to always know where your boat is. Sometimes divers swim to another location, only to find themselves far away from their boat.
Lobsters are delicious, but certainly not worth losing your life over.
