Whenever we hear that the hurricane center is tracking a tropical storm that might be headed our way, we all start paying a little more attention or even get a little on edge. Well get this. Starting July 1st, the National Hurricane Center will put on its website colorful graphics that identify systems that could grow into storms and where they might go over five days. James Franklin, the center's top hurricane specialist says the idea isn't to scare people but rather make sure they aren't taken by surprise if a tropical system develops close to land. The swaths will be colored yellow, orange and red to designate low, medium and high odds of a disturbance strengthening into a depression, storm, or hurricane.
