  • Governor DeSantis announced what he called a “landmark” agreement between the state and federal government to accelerate Everglades Restoration. The new agreement between the state and Army Corps of Engineers will allow Florida to take the lead in many areas of the project, including the completion of the EAA Reservoir system and outflow pumps and stations. 
  • Boynton Beach State Representative Joe Casello has died following a heart attack. The 73-year-old Democrat was a former Boynton Beach commissioner prior to election to the state legislature in 2018. He recently announced plans to run for the Palm Beach County commission next year. 
  • It'll be hot and humid with highs in the low 90’s, which is warmer than usual for this date. Another Saharan dust plume is currently tracking across the central Atlantic and towards the Caribbean. Related... 
  • The National Hurricane Center’s 7-day Tropical Weather Outlook is tracking a disturbance in the southern Atlantic with a 20% chance of development over the next seven days as it gradually moves towards the Leeward Islands. 
  • Gas prices fell six cents per gallon over the weekend. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.07 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.22 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.06 and in Indian River County the average is $3.06 per gallon.
