3rd Look - Veterans Access To Care Site: What Vets Say About Local Facilities

A new tool for Veterans shows that nearly all of the ones in our area are able to get routine primary care when its needed.

It's another feature of the Veterans Affairs' Access to Care site just released last week.  We've shown you how to find average wait times for various types of services at the local VA facilities and which ones offer same day care.  Click Here for walk throughs on those features.

The site also lets you see "What Veterans Say About Access To Care."

To get there, Click Here, then select the option for "How satisfied are Veterans with their care in my facility?"

It will take you to a map with the headline "What Veterans Say About Access To Care".  Search West Palm Beach, Fl and you'll find this:

There are 3 facilities in Palm Beach County.

When asked between July and December of last year if they were always or usually able to get an appointment for routine care when needed, 95 percent of Veterans said yes about the Delray Beach VA clinic, 94 percent said yes about the one in Boca Raton and 89 percent said yes about the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center.

As you can see above, the percentages drop into the 70's when you switch to Urgent primary care.

Only the hospital in West Palm shows up (above) for specialty care with 88 percent saying they are able to get appointments when needed.

The Department of Veterans Affairs tells us they are looking for feedback on this new tool and will be adjusting features and adding some on May 1.
