Number Of Heroin Overdoses In Lake Worth Is Staggering

We've been reporting on the opioid epidemic hitting local cities hard.

We're learning how bad the situation is in Lake Worth.  Palm Beach County Sheriff's Captain Todd Baer told city commissioners this week that there's what he called a "bad batch" of drugs on the streets right now.  Heroin is being laced with Fentanyl, which is said to be even more deadly than the drug itself.

Baer believes that "street level pharmacists must not be lacing them well."  There were 5 fatal overdoses in Lake Worth last month, which was up from 2 in February.

Overall overdose cases in the city in march sat at 58, after 20 the month before.  Baer says that 58 was the most OD's in any month since July of last year.
