Gov. Scott Signs Extension To Boater Safety Law

Miami Boat Show Opens Amid Gloomy Economic Climate

The governor yesterday signed a new bill into law aimed at encouraging boaters to equip themselves with safety features like emergency radio beacons.

The legislation is an extension of a boater safety bill he signed into law last year.  Scott referenced the 2015 disappearance of Tequesta teens Austin Stephanos and Perry Cohen while signing the law, which makes a limited-time discount on registration fees for boaters with the devices permanent.

It also increases the discounts.
