For our "Protecting the Palm Beaches" feature we honor Palm Beach County Sheriff's Deputies Shariska Monroy and Ernest Lowmaster the third.
The two were called out to check on a family in Lake Worth and discovered this family was constantly on the move due to financial restraints.
The mother, father and three kids, ages 1 to 8, had no running water and no furniture. The family was being evicted.
Deputies Monroy and Lowmaster spent $400 of their own money to get the family a hotel room and took time to visit the family to make sure they were okay.
The time in the hotel bridged the gap until the non-profit Adopt-a-Family could provide support.
