A vigil was held to remember the 17 people who were murdered at the hands of a school shooter on Wednesday. Among the folks who lost their lives at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School were some students as young as 14. The father of Jamie Guttenberg choked back tears as he spoke about the daughter he described as his ‘baby.” Others who spoke included students who survived the shooting. The senior class president announced the names of all seventeen victims.
(CBS 12) — Thousands of people grieved together on Thursday night at the Parkland Amphitheater. They came to remember the 17 victims of this senseless tragedy.
They remembered the stories of perseverance, happier times, and stories of the students and parents.
“This is impossible,” said Fred Guttenberg, the father of Jamie Guttenberg, one of the first to be identified. “My girl. My 14-year-old baby,” he said as he began choking up.
Chicago Cubs star Anthony Rizzo, who graduated from Douglas in 2007, returned home to South Florida to speak at the vigil.
