WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Tropical Storm Beryl is a fairly disorganized tropical storm right now with winds of 45 mph and is located about 285 miles east of Martinique.
It is moving WNW at 20 mph toward the Lesser Antilles. Winds associated with Beryl will be near 40 mph when it approaches the Northern Leeward islands late tonight. There is a tropical storm warning in effect for Dominica and Guadeloupe.
Closer to home, Tropical Storm Chris is located about 150 miles S of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.
Chris has winds of 40 mph and further strengthening is expected over the next few days.
It will continue to bring high surf and dangerous rip currents to the North Carolina beaches and mid-Atlantic region beaches. Right now, the storm is nearly stationary but by Tuesday, Chris will accelerate NE into the Canadian Maritimes.
