Life is Good and most of us get it

Life is Good and most of us get it

Bottom Line: The news media is so generally negative, and life is generally so positive that I’ve put extra emphasis on the positives this week. With the best economy in over a generation, it’s not too hard to find positives. An interesting look at how we feel collectively over time comes from Gallup. Since 1980 they’ve periodically studied our satisfaction with our personal lives. Given the negative bend to the news day in and day out you might be inclined to think most people aren’t all that happy. But ignore the noise and think about your personal life. Are you satisfied with it? The odds are overwhelmingly yes...

According to the study...

  • 86% are at least satisfied with their lives

It’s the highest it’s been since January of 2017 and before that, 2003. In other words, we’re generally the happiest we’ve been as a country in 16 years and within 2% of being the happiest we’ve ever been. As the late great one would have said, that’s the rest of the story... The one that’s just not reflected by much of the news media. It makes perfect sense too. Consider...

  • Record low unemployment rates for most demographics
  • Biggest income growth year over year on record
  • Best economy in a generation
  • Biggest increase in net take home pay in over 32 years
  • Lowest divorce rates in over 30 years

There’s a lot to like. You just need to take the time to notice.
