Most conservative and liberal states for 2019 - The states trending right

Bottom Line: Yesterday I brought you the most conservative and liberal states for 2019. It told a story that clearly painted the picture of a country that’s without a doubt center-right.That being said the AOC’s of the world haven’t suddenly happened onto the scene because there isn’t an undercurrent of deep liberalism that’s pervasive in elements in our society. That’s evidenced as we look at the way states have been trending. For this two-part story I’m using a two-year look at how state partisanship has been trending. This is a look at trends in states between 2016 to 2018.

These are the states trending more conservative: 15

It’s an eclectic mix of states. You have ten red states that have trended even more conservative, but you also have five blue states that have trended less liberal. If these trends hold the implications for 2020 would be most potentially meaningful in Arizona, Florida, Maine and New Mexico.

These are the state with no change: 8

The one true toss-up in this bunch is Michigan, which went for Trump by a really thin margin. Otherwise there aren’t clear 2020 implications in this bunch. The second part of today’s story we’ll look at the largest block of states. Those trending more liberal.
