St. Lucie County residents who have not yet mailed in their ballots on a property tax referendum will have until 7 p.m. Tuesday to drop them off at one of four locations.

The proposed property tax increase that would amount to a hike of about $8.50 per month for the average home valued at $200,000 over four years, with the money going to public schools.

Superintendent Wayne Gent says he wants to hire additional guidance and mental health counselors.
