Former Palm Beach Gardens Cop Gets 25 Years In Corey Jones' Death

Former Palm Beach Gardens police officer Nouman Raja will spend 25 years behind bars.

He was sentenced on Thursday for convictions of manslaughter and attempted first degree murder in the death of Corey Jones.

The drummer was stuck on the exit ramp of I-95 at PGA Boulevard back in October 2015, waiting for a tow truck, when an undercover Raja approached him.

Prosecutors during the trial said that while Jones pulled out a gun, he never pulled the trigger and was running away from Raja when the officer fired several shots at him.

While Raja was given two 25-year sentences, they will run concurrently.

The case is being appealed.
