Florida's recap – Highlights from around the state – June 21st

- Governor DeSantis signed the “Red Tide” bill into law creating the Florida Red Tide Mitigation and Technology Development Initiative which will be led by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission
- Governor DeSantis announced $140 million will be deployed by Rebuild Florida for workforce housing construction across the state. $35 million will go to the Keys to rebuild up to 3,000 homes
- Monroe County is receiving an additional $21 million in federal relief funds from FEMA for IRMA related costs
- Nikki Fried will have to replace the gas pump stickers with her face being the most prominent feature of the inspection stickers when Governor DeSantis signs off on the state’s budget. The new reg mandates that only a combination of lettering, numbering, words, or the department logo may be used. Nikki said however she can’t/won’t replace them until after the 2019-2020 fiscal year because resources have already been spent for those stickers in the current year’s budget.
