  • Governor DeSantis signed Florida’s 2019-2020 budget into law. He used the line-item veto to eliminate $131 million in spending projects he didn’t agree with. The $91.1 billion budget is a new record for Florida.
  • Florida’s unemployment rate dipped to 3.4%, remaining below the national average with 16,000 new jobs added during the month
  • Florida Senator Rick Scott announced that on Friday U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao agreed to provide the $60 million in federal funding needed for the Tamiami Trail modification project in the Everglades. Senator Rubio and Representative Mario-Diaz Balart worked with Senator Scott on the project
  • More details of Rivera Beach’s incompetence have emerged including the revelation that the city spent $800,000 on new security systems that were never activated
