  • All power was restored to Floridians after Dorian by midday Thursday. The average power outage for the near 200,000 homes that lost power was under an hour
  • Florida has provided 860,000 bottles of water and 1.8 million meals thus far in relief to the Bahamas. The state is readying a second round of relief. Florida’s hurricane relief supplies are being deployed for the Bahamas. 
  • An American Airlines mechanic working at Miami International Airport was arrested for an act of sabotage, specifically disabling the flight navigation system on a commercial plane prior to takeoff. There have been rumors of American’s mechanics potentially holding up flights due to contractual disagreements between the airline and union,but this is the first arrest for actual sabotage.The flight in question didn’t takeoff as pilots noticed the failure prior to takeoff.
  • Dorian’s death toll in Florida now stands at six, none of deaths occurred due to the direct impact of the hurricane.
