  • Governor DeSantis has presented his desired budget framework for the state session that begins in January. It includes the money needed to join ERIC, the electronic voter registration program aimed at weeding out duplicate voters between states in addition to money for the Florida National Guard, Florida’s Growth Grant Fund and Visit Florida as it’s currently funded.
  • The University of Central Florida received a $1 million federal grant to continue its research into treatments for veterans suffering with PTSD through UCF’s RESTORES initiative. UCF has treated 750 people in the program since 2011.
  • The FBI has opened an inquiry into Tampa based travel company Hopkins Travel Services after they were alerted to bogus travel promotions such as buy one get one free deals booked through its Vacations For You! site. Norwegian has cancelled thousands of bookings made by Hopkins Travel and has asked customers potentially impacted to contact the FBI.
