  • Friday marked the deadline to qualify for Florida’s August primary elections. 12 state representatives were reelected Friday as no challengers qualified to run against them. Among them, eleven Democrats and one Republican. 
  • Florida’s positive test rate for COVID-19 spiraled higher over the weekend with the three highest days for diagnosed cases to date.
  • Statewide numerous bars and nightclubs, which reopened as part of phase two, are temporarily closing to perform deep cleanings.
  • Miami Mayor Francis Suarez indicated the city may reimpose restrictions which had been lifted during the reopening process.
  • Governor DeSantis signed the bill into law enabling collegiate athletes to profit off of their likeness. Florida’s law takes effect July 1st ,2021 – the earliest date in the country.
