Governor Ron DeSantis spoke at a hospital in Miami yesterday to provide an update on the state's fight against COVID-19.
A protester interrupted DeSantis at the beginning of the briefing, saying that governor had no plan, was misleading the public and yelled "shame on you" before being removed from the briefing.
As for the substance of the briefing, the governor said he was bumping up the number of contracted nurses he's sending to medical facilities around the state. He's adding an additional 2,000, on top of the 1,500 the state has recently requested from FEMA.
"Some of those will be used to support our COVID-only long-term care facilities. Some will be able to go to the traditional long-term care facilities to sub in for staff who may test positive."
Florida recorded more than 12,600 new coronavirus cases yesterday, its second-highest daily total since the outbreak began. That came a day after the record of 15,300 was set on Sunday.
