Today is the deadline to file your 2019 taxes or request an extension.
The federal government added three months to the usual April 15th deadline because of the coronavirus pandemic.
By granting the extension, the feds allowed individuals and businesses to hold onto their cash longer as they dealt with the economic fallout from the COVID-19 outbreak.
But today is the day to pay what you owe, even if you file for an extension to October 15th to file.
As for those who get refunds, a recent Smart Asset study found refund payments for Palm Beach County residents average $4,000. That's good for third highest in the state.
Refunds in Collier County top the list at an average of $4,400, followed by Monroe taxpayers at more than $,4300.
