After years of planning, NASA has launched its latest mission to Mars.

The Mars 2020 Perserverance rover blasted off on an Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Thursday morning.

The Mars rover is loaded down with 23 cameras, scientific instruments, and a helicopter dubbed "Ingenuity."

It's expected to arrive on the Red Planet in February, then spend two years looking for signs of ancient life.
