County Court Group 12 Incumbent Stephens Faces Challenger Seaborne

In our Election Spotlight is the race for Palm Beach County Court Judge, Group 12.

Incumbent Judge Debra Moses Stephens has spent 20 years on the bench and seeks another term.

"I have tried, just in the last five years, 173 jury trials."

She's currently in the domestic violence division and before her years on the bench, Stephens spent 13 years with the Palm Beach County Public Defender's Office.

"I should be re-elected because I believe the citizens deserve a judge that knows what they're doing and that is able to handle their courtroom."

Stephens' challenger has also worked as a public defender.

Jaianna Seaborne also served as in-house counsel for Geico Insurance and now runs her own law firm.

"I do criminal defense, I do civil, I do family law, and I do some injunctions and small claims as well."

Seaborne is also an Air Force veteran and talks about how that experience can help her on the bench.

"Part of the military training is discipline, is focus and then it also teaches you how to adapt and to adjust as well as interact with various and diverse people."

Judicial races are open to all voters, regardless of party or where you reside. Hear more from both candidates in the above audio players.
