The third and final judicial race on your August 18th ballot and in our Election Spotlight is the one for Palm Beach County Circuit Court, Group 30.
Incumbent Judge Jaimie Goodman is running for re-election, facing two challengers. He's been on the bench for over 5 years and currently serves in the civil division.
"I've presided over 49 jury trials and thousands of hearings. My opponents simply do not have anything close to that record."
Challenger Adam Myron is a trial attorney and Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Mediator who grew up in Palm Beach County. He says demeanor is extremely important on the bench.
"If I'm elected, I'm going to recognize everyday the enormous trust that the citizens of Palm Beach County have placed in me to be good and decent."
That's something that he and fellow candidate Caryn Siperstein, a Florida Assistant Attorney General, say Goodman scores low in when it comes to the Bar's judicial evaluations.
"235 our of 278 attorneys who participated in the judicial evaluation indicated he needs improvement on demeanor."
The incumbent responds...
"The bottom line are these surveys are unreliable and they're simply a popularity contest."
