A Doctor & A Minister Face Off In Florida House, District 81 GOP Primary

Two Republicans are vying for the right to face the winner of the Democrat Primary in the race for Florida House, District 81. Saulis Banionis is a medical doctor, specializing in pain management.

"I never even contemplated being a politician aside with everything I see going on around me in society and everything else I really feel that it's important for everyday citizens to step up."

He cites a lack of law and order, among other things. Saulis also spoke about the coronavirus.

"I think that the actual numbers here in Florida are much better than what's being reported. I've actually done quite a few videos on them, in terms of how to interpret the numbers a little bit more closely."

Dr. Saulis faces candidate Silmo Moura, a Christian minister and realtor. When asked if a physician might be what the doctor ordered for a district dealing with the coronavirus pandemic...

"I don't think that's the only subject we have. I understand that's the main one right now. But we're going to get over this, as we got over other problems even worse than this. And we cannot based on one subject or one problem to run for office."

Moura says constituents of District 81 have told him they want a representative that's more present in the community.

"Once elected, I'm going to come back to the county and I'm going to have just one question, 'What can I do to make it better. What type of law will benefit you better'?"

The winner of this primary will face the winner of the Democrat Primary in District 81.

The seat is currently held by State Rep. TIna Polsky (D), who is running for the Florida Senate.
