4 Republicans Vying For The Right To Fight Democrat Rep. Ted Deutch In D-22

While no Democrats are running against Incumbent Congressman Ted Deutch, there is a crowded Republican Primary of District 22 candidates who are vying for the right to challenge him in November.

The first of the four is Fran Flynn, who says of the 2020 Presidential Election.

"One of the most consequential elections of our lifetime."

She thinks she's the right Republican to get Democrats to cross party lines in the fall.

"What makes me the best qualified is I'm a fighter. I think my business background for one."

Flynn says she and her husband have been creating jobs for 30 years through their tractor-trailer equipment leasing business.

Jim Pruden is a business attorney, who has also worked in strategic planning for IBM and executive management.

He says he has the background and experience to do the job of a Congressman.

"You know, a lot of folks have lost site of what Congress actually does. Being in the House of Representatives and the Senate are among the most important jobs in the world. They are demanding. They require a lot of knowledge and experience and background in both law and international security matters and frankly I have the experience and background to do that."

Darlene Swaffar touts her knowledge in the healthcare insurance industry.

"I have an insurance brokerage company and I'm the only candidate running in the state of Florida with health insurance expertise."

Swaffar says that would come in handy in Congress, where she wants to see the quote "whole structure of Obamacare revamped."

Why does she think she's the best candidate to defeat Deutch in November?

"You know, I may be Republican, but 80 percent of my family are Democrats and I can speak Democrat when I have to."

We reached out to candidate Jessi Melton, but have not heard back.
