  • Palm Beach County & Miami-Dade students and teachers dealt with extensive issues accessing the distance learning portal on day 1 of the 2020-2021 school year. The came as the district refused to allow for classroom options and after a delayed start to the school year. By 11am the Palm Beach County School District sent out an email sending all students to the Google classroom website rather than the portal for classes.
  • Florida’s COVID-19 reported positive test number on Monday was the lowest daily total reported since June 15th with just under 1,900 new cases. The moving weekly average has dropped below 3,000 for the first time since June 20th. Florida’s positivity rate rose to 5.5%
  • Governor DeSantis issued a fifth stay on evictions and foreclosures in Florida extending the deadline to October 1st. It had been set to expire today. Florida has had a moratorium in place since April 2nd.
  • Six of Trip Advisor’s top beaches for 2020 – According to users of the service – are Florida beaches with Siesta Beach ranking first nationally. Hollywood Beach is the top-ranking beach in South East Florida ranking 7th overall.
