  • The Florida Department of Health had a delay in reporting daily COVID cases over the weekend resulting in two days' worth of reporting on Sunday. It’s important to note that the two-day average for cases was 2,785. The reports of 5,570 reported cases was the entire weekend total – not a single day.
  • President Trump is holding his first campaign event since being diagnosed with COVID-19. After being cleared by the White House medical doctor to resume campaign activities, he’s set to hold a rally at an airport hangar in Sanford tonight at 7. The rally had originally been scheduled to take place on October 2nd.
  • Key West’s Fantasy Fest has been cancelled for in-person festivities this year; however virtual events will still be held from the 16th thru 24th at www.fantasyfest.com.
  • The Florida Department of Education has won its case against the Florida Education Association. The FEA’s lawsuit aimed to end classroom education statewide indefinitely. The lawsuit, first filed after the Florida Department of Education ordered classroom education options statewide this fall, was first ruled in favor of the FEA by Circuit Judge Charles Dodson. On Friday the 1st District Court of Appeal overturned the ruling in favor of the state saying: nothing in the emergency order requires any teacher or any student to return to the classroom. The court also ruled that the FEA lacked legal standing to even bring the case against the state.
