- On back of the FDA panel’s vote to recommend the emergency use of the Pfizer COVID-19 candidate, Governor DeSantis began finalizing plans for the initial shipment to our state. He said Florida will receive and initial shipment of 179,400 doses which will be available “within the next week”. He stated strike teams will be deployed to immunize those in nursing homes and elder care facilities. At risk healthcare workers will also have initial access. Regarding the distribution...
- 97,500 doses will go to hospitals for healthcare workers, 60,450 will go to CVS and Walgreens locations for long-term care facilities. 21,450 will be used directly by the strike teams for long-term care facilities.
- Florida’s not immune from the concerns of a double-dip recession. Following a national trend, Florida’s weekly unemployment claims rose over the past week. After two consecutive months of the lowest unemployment filings during the pandemic, Florida has recently had two weeks of rising claims.
- Tom Brady is the latest northeast transplant who isn’t going back. Talking about his experience in living in Florida... It’s amazing just to be at this point in the season and then to still be outside practicing today, turned into a beautiful day, and I know we have a warm one coming up on Sunday. I love being outside every day. I think being a native Floridian. I was a native Californian for a long time in my life. I went away from it for about 25 years, and you won’t catch me dead living in the Northeast anymore. I’m loving the warm weather. And it’s been a great feeling.
