Our Election Spotlight is on the city of Boca Raton, where there are two City Council races and two ballot questions.
Seat D Incumbent Monica Mayotte is running for a second term. We asked her how she thought the city performed in its pandemic response.
"I think the city of Boca was one of the first municipalities in the county to do some major shutdowns and I thought it was the right thing to do at the time. And I still do think it was the right thing to do to try to keep our community safe."
Her challenger, property manager Brian Stenberg, thought the city likely did the best it could under the circumstances, but feels for small business owners.
"A lot of people ended up unemployed and underemployed. And a lot of people now have to rely on government aid in order to get by because businesses have been shut down."
Among his priorities, provide support for those businesses and residents. Mayotte says she is focused on that and rebuilding the city's economy as a whole.
There's also a race in Seat C, which we'll cover later this week.
Voters in Boca Raton will also be asked to approve or deny two charter amendments dealing with future City Council candidates.
One asks whether they should have to live in the city for at least a year to qualify or keep it at the current 30 days.
The other question asks whether candidates must gather at least 200 signatures on a petition in order to run instead of just paying a qualifying fee.
