Q&A Of The Day – Part 3 Critical Race Theory Is Taught As Anything But A Theory
Bottom Line: So, our teachers unions now provide 99% of their money to Democrats. Is that representative of the communities they serve? Teachers’ unions oppose school choice despite 69% of Floridians in favor of expanding it, a number which jumps to 75% when only parents are asked. Once again teachers’ unions are failing to serve the interests of their communities. And yes, in real-time, the Florida Education Association is fighting for the ability to bring critical race theory into our schools. This despite 74% of us being opposed to it. Clearly, there is a strong track record of teachers’ unions, of which nearly 7 in 10 teachers are members, fighting for and funding the opposite of what Floridians want. And let’s not forget that the Florida Education Association also fought like hell to try to prevent any classroom education this school year. Had it not been for the DeSantis administration fighting in court for classroom education – schools would have been closed just like all the other pitifully run states.
It’s about time everyone opened their eyes to what teachers' unions agendas are about and understand that most teachers unfortunately choose to be part of the problem. They reject what we stand for and they continue to fund it with our tax dollars, principally the roof over our family’s head. So back to where this conversation started. The question... Why are you afraid of CRT? It's a THEORY! I can answer by simply stating, I reject the premise of the question. The education establishment’s evidenced agenda consistently runs counter the desires of most Floridians. You literally fund politicians who are overt Marxists and socialists. Not only does the education establishment not deserve the benefit of the doubt, but the education establishment’s agenda is also currently the greatest threat to the long-term viability of the United States.
In 1838 Abraham Lincoln delivered what’s known as the Lyceum Address. It was the commentary from this address to which the subsequent sayings that the if the United States were to fall that it would never come from the outside but rather from within. The education establishment, starting with the agenda of the teacher’s unions are ground zero for this threat. The Marxist agenda, CRT, is but the latest cog in this larger undermining of America. Unions have commonly exploited taxpayers and slick marketing campaigns to suggest that teachers are ubiquitously under-paid heroes. That crap needs to stop. Great teachers, free from unions are worth their weight in gold, however they’re the minority. Most teachers are sadly part of the problem, starting with participation in unions. I’ll close with this from Governor DeSantis on Monday:
There’s a movement now in some of the elite corporate outlets to gaslight people about what critical race theory is. It teaches people to view that as the most important characteristic. And obviously if you’re certain races, Caucasian, what-not, they view that in a negative fashion. That is not something that’s appropriate for schools. It’s based on historical falsehoods. If you continue to have some of this movement in spite of the state policy, it really should have funding consequences that flow from it. Look, have we done so well on the basics that we go off on these political and ideological tangents in our schools?
