The Senate Hearing Schedule for President-elect Trump’s Cabinet Picks

The Senate Hearing Schedule for President-elect Trump’s Cabinet Picks

Bottom Line: Today’s the day that the hearing process kicks off for President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet picks in the United States senate. It took 97 days for President Trump to have his full cabinet confirmed eight years ago. His aim is to have his full cabinet in place as quickly as possible this time around. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has worked with the president-elect to expedite the process. That process formally begins at 9:00 this morning. Here’s the current schedule:

Tuesday (1/14):

  • Doug Collins, Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Pete Hegseth, Depart of Defense
  • Doug Burgum, Interior Department (delayed until Thursday)

Wednesday (1/15):

  • Kristi Noem, Homeland Security Department
  • Pam Bondi, Justice Department
  • Sean Duffy, Transportation Department
  • John Ratcliffe, CIA Director
  • Marco Rubio, State Department
  • Chris Wright, Energy Department
  • Russell Vought, Office of Management and Budget

Thursday (1/16):

  • Scott Turner, Housing and Urban Development Department
  • Lee Zeldin, Environmental Protection Agency
  • Pam Bondi, Justice Department (Day 2)
  • Scott Bessent, Treasury Department

Yet to be scheduled:

  • Lori Chavez-DeRemer, Labor Department
  • Tulsi Gabbard, Office of the Director of National Intelligence
  • Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Health and Human Services Department
  • Howard Lutnick, Commerce Department
  • Linda McMahon, Education Department
  • Kash Patel, FBI
  • Brooke Rollins, Agriculture Department
  • Elise Stefanik, U.N. Ambassador

That’s a total of 13 of President-elect Trump’s 21 cabinet officials requiring senate confirmation who’re scheduled for their hearings through Thursday. It’s likely the remaining eight nominees will be scheduled quickly as well. President Trump had only three of his cabinet officials in place by the end of his first day in office eight years ago. The current schedule provides the potential for much more of his cabinet to be in place quickly upon becoming president next Monday.
