  • Senator Marco Rubio was unanimously confirmed to be the next Secretary of State by the United States Senate on Monday and will be sworn in today. Florida AG Ashley Moody, whom Governor DeSantis tapped to replace Rubio last week, will be sworn into to replace Rubio a short time later. 
  • Florida Congressional Representative Mike Waltz has assumed the role of National Security Adviser to President Trump. Waltz officially resigned from the House shortly before Trump’s swearing in ceremony yesterday. Special elections to replace Waltz and former Representative Matt Gaetz have been scheduled. Primary elections for both races take place next Tuesday, January 28th, with the general elections scheduled for April 1st. The GOP House majority is currently down to 218-215 with the vacancies.  
  • New traffic security protocols for Mar-a-Lago are coming into focus. As of last Friday, South Ocean Blvd. in the vicinity of Mar-a-Lago reopened to regular traffic along with regular bridge opening schedules. Prior to President Trump returning to Mar-a-Lago, security checkpoints will be put back in place along South Ocean Blvd.  
  • Cloudy skies and showers throughout the day today with highs in the mid to upper 60’s along the Treasure Coast to low 70’s throughout the Palm Beaches, a little cooler than usual for this date. Similar but slightly cooler weather is expected for the rest of the week. Governor DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for northern Florida counties where up to four inches of snow is expected today. 
  • Gas prices dropped two cents per gallon on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.16 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.33 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.21 and in Indian River County the average is $3.13 per gallon.
