  • Florida House Speaker Daniel Perez, who spearheaded the recent effort to end Governor DeSantis’ special session killing the governor’s legislative agenda, in lieu of his own – is continuing to focus on a rebuke of DeSantis’ decisions. On Thursday, Perez ordered workgroups within the House to study line-item vetoes issued last summer by DeSantis. The workgroups are to meet for up to 10 days and issue recommendations for legislative actions aimed at attempting to overturn the vetoes.  
  • 16 lawsuits have been filed by potential victims of a South Florida based window and door company. Doral based Alco Windows and Doors is said to have been collecting payments for impact window and doors projects with little or no work being completed. The Miami Dade State Attorney is investigating and noted they’ve received over 30 complaints from potential victims.  
  • Researchers have confirmed that a 14-foot Great White Shark named “Contender”, tagged in January off Jacksonville's coast, is the largest shark tagged in the western Atlantic. The shark weighed in at over 1,652 pounds. The shark most recently pinged about 40 miles offshore north of the Space Coast.  
  • Partly cloudy skies and warm today with highs around 80 – warmer than usual for this date. Similar weather is expected to continue into next week. 
  • Gas prices dropped a penny per gallon on Thursday after increases to start the week. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.21 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.36 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.28 and in Indian River County the average is $3.22 per gallon.
