  • A Sun Sentinel analysis of Florida home insurance prices shows an increase of 1.5% across all policies underwritten in 2025 through the first eight months of the year, the lowest increase in nearly ten years. Prices have declined year-over-year with 17 of the 84 reporting companies underwriting polices within the state, with three insurers, American Security, Clear Blue and Trusted Resource Underwriters posting double-digit declines in premiums year-over-year. The average homeowner's policy within the state is most recently $3,747. 
  • Florida State University’s College of Law has been named the No. 1 Best Value Law School in the country by preLaw Magazine. The publication cites: “exceptional combination of academic quality, affordability, and career outcomes”. 
  • Sunny and pleasant weather today with highs in the low 80’s, typical for this date. A plume of Saharan dust is tracking over the Leeward Islands and Hispaniola extending from the Caribbean Sea through the central Atlantic with another plume moving off the coast of Africa acting as a headwind for tropical development.   • The National Hurricane Center is tracking one disturbance in the southern Atlantic. The system is expected to track towards the central Atlantic with an 80% chance of development and is not of concern. 
  • Gas prices fell through the weekend, touching new lows for the year with prices that are 11 cents lower than a week ago. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.91 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.07 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.00, it’s $2.91 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $2.91 per gallon.
