- While in Martin County on Tuesday, Governor DeSantis highlighted the success of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Python Action Team in its removal of pythons from the Everglades. The newly established program is said to have been responsible for the removal of more pythons, 748 in the month of July, than the entire previous year. Total python removals are 298% higher year-over-year following the allocation of an additional $2 million to fund efforts, including a 60% pay increase for python hunters.
- The FAA has imposed year-round flight restrictions over Mar-a-Lago, regardless of whether President Trump is town. The change is an increased security measure following multiple assassination attempts on the president including what appear to be two that have occurred locally. The restrictions alter flight patterns into and out of Palm Beach International Airport.
- Two arrests have been made in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of two 11-year-old victims that began with a School Resource Officer who was tipped off by a student within the St. Lucie School District. An investigation by the St. Lucie Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrests of 19-year-old Tayler DiFrancesco of Vero Beach and 20-year-old Arthur Douglas Brown of Fort Pierce. The investigation remains active and anyone with additional information pertaining to the cases or potential additional victims should report the information to the St. Lucie Sheriff’s Office.

- The National Hurricane Center is tracking Tropical Storm Melissa which is expected to develop into a weak hurricane this weekend as it is expected to stall in the vicinity of Jamaica and Haiti producing a massive rain event on the islands.
- Gas prices rose six cents per gallon on Tuesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.93 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.08 per gallon, in Martin the average is $2.98, it’s $2.93 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $2.93 per gallon.
