Part 1 Cheat Sheet Q&A: Why I don't support the creation of VOICE:

Today's entry: I listen to you every weekday morning on the way to work. I appreciate your conservative perspective and generally agree with you 99% of the time. This morning I do not. Before you dismiss the creation of the VOICE Section of the Department of Homeland Security please check out The Remembrance Project:

The Remembrance Project and maybe even interview Maria Espinoza about the American lives lost to Illegal Immigrants.

Bottom Line: I genuinely appreciate your candor and understand where you're coming from. I also understood that when I broke down President Trump's proposed policy positions espoused in Tuesday night's address and identified that I approved of five proposals, disapproved of three and put his healthcare proposal as being 40% less awful than Obamacare - I'd be met with many who'd be unhappy that I didn't make the case for all or more of them. It's an occupational hazard that I learned the hard way during the Bush administration. I took many lumps when I was critical of certain Bush administration polices. I expect nothing less now.

Given the incredible lengths that most of the media will go to attempt to undermine President Trump and his administration - I understand the sensitivity to it. I want to give the President as much benefit of the doubt as you do. I believe that President Trump is genuinely desirous of doing the right thing as he see fit for the country. I agree with, enthusiastically so, much of his agenda. But I won't compromise my principals or integrity in the name of politics. Hopefully you'll understand and I'd like to think that's why you've trusted me over the course of time. With that out of the way I'll speak specifically to my disapproval of the VOICE, or Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement initiative, within the Department of Homeland Security.

On a personal level I'm completely sympathetic to the plight of victims that would, theoretically, be served by such an expansion of DHS's current role. This however gets back to one of my core values/principals. The premise. Here's the actual language from the President's executive order:  "...studying the effects of the victimization by criminal aliens present in the United States." The new VOICE entity within DHS is supposed to report back to the President quarterly.
