The Pope has called on people to consult the Bible as often as cellphones - Do both!:
Bottom Line: Over the weekend the Pope called on people to put as much time into reading scripture as Facebook (and whatever else you do on your phone). Here's his quote:
"What would happen if we turned back when we forget it, if we opened it more times a day, if we read the message of God contained in the Bible the way we read messages on our cellphones."
While I'm sympathetic to the message it's unrealistic to expect that, especially younger, people will decide to trade out Snap Chat for Corinthians. But through technology it doesn't have to. I have two religious apps on my devices that help bring the Bible and related religious content to my mobile device. I find that I check in prayers and related materials far more often as a result of having them there. So it's food for thought for you but also something you could pre-load on the devices you provide to your kids.
