Bottom Line: There's a mix of good and bad news to be had with regard to your considerations for filing auto insurance claims in Florida. The good news is that the average increase upon renewal for filing a claim in Florida is among the smallest in the country. The bad news is that's due to our premiums already being among the most expensive in the country and the size of the increase is still meaningful at an average of 31.9% upon renewal.  So here's the food for thought...

The current average auto insurance premium in Florida is $1144. That means that the average year one increase is $364.94 on average. Also be mindful that you'll continue to pay more in successive years as well. Btw, the highest average increase upon filing a claim comes from California which sees an average increase of 63.1% upon renewal.
