All airlines bump passengers but not at the same rate - How likely you are to be bumped by airline:

Bottom Line: In the wake of the United debacle - you might be led to think that United is the most likely airline to bump you from a flight. As it turns out that's not the case. In fact, they're among the least likely to bump you (but perhaps the most aggressive when they do...). What's even more ironic is that Southwest, which has spent the week using the United incident as a marketing gimmick, is actually the 2nd biggest offender of bumping. Here is the most recent data available from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (end of 2016 report):

Most likely to bump you:

  • JetBlue
  • Southwest
  • American
  • United
  • Delta

In that order. JetBlue bumps about 1.3% of it's passengers and Delta bumps only about .2% of it's passengers. United bumps only about .4% of it's passengers but clearly the quantity isn't the root of their issue...
