It's not your imagination... You are spending a lot more time in traffic in South Florida this year:

Bottom Line: Sometimes our perception of something like time-spent in traffic is skewed by "recency bias"...our tendency to perceive what we've most recently encountered as being the most significant. If you have felt as though you've consistently been stuck in more traffic this year in South Florida - it's not recency bias. It's real!

According to the Federal Highway Traffic Administration the average daily commute time for the Miami metro has increased by 15 minutes over last year. So it really is more congested, with more accidents and more frustration with SFL drivers stuck in traffic delays. Naturally the closer you are to Miami specifically, the worse the congestion tends to be but we're part of this metro and antidotely I'd been observing what seemed to be heavier traffic consistently of late. Turns out it's real.
