Under pressure? Cosmetic surgery for men has started to boom:

Bottom Line: We've known that vanity has often centered on women for typically stereo-typical reasons. While it's probably true that society isn't as objective in it's handling of women aging as compared to men - it's also not mutually exclusive that concerned women will take invasive actions to address aging concerns. The most recent research sheds a lot of light on the changing tide of male vanity.

According to the The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, male use of cosmetic procedures is booming. Here are a couple of highlights from their research:

  • 20% overall increase in male procedures
  • Top male cosmetic procedure is Botox (up 27% since 2010)

The society report said there's never been national research conducted on male reasons specifically but we can probably infer that they're similar those of women who've been seeking cosmetic enhancements. Something that I think can probably be successfully tracked is the rising trend of Boomer divorces and male procedures. That would be my hypothesis for the increase this decade (more so than career related considerations).
