Well, despite another active news week it was a near nothing burger kind of week for the President's overall approval rating. In the mist of CNN's corruption being exposed and the GOP Senate healthcare bill drama and delay...the President actually saw a slight lift to his overall approval, though he's still in solidly negative territory. Last week my message was this...
Despite all of the noise and all of the rhetoric, Donald Trump wasn't elected President because he was beloved by the masses. Republicans haven't been elected to their greatest majorities nationally since the 1920's because Americans are in love with the Republican party. President Trump and these Republicans have been elected to get the job done that other politicians haven't. The top three priorities of Americans at the onset of the Trump administration were:
The President accomplished the third most important agenda item early on. Now we're getting down to brass tax time on healthcare reform. Will the Republicans prove they can effectively govern and pass the agenda they were elected to pass? That will determine the approval or disapproval of the President and individual members of Congress over the long run.
The variance between pollsters was all over the place this week. The range was Fox News -6% to Reuters -23%
Until next week...
